The brand

Broken in,
never broken down.

Danner has been building boots in Portland, Oregon since 1932. Stitchdown construction, full-grain leather and Vibram outsoles, put together so the boot can be taken apart and rebuilt instead of thrown away.

In 1979 the Mountain Light became the first boot in the world with a Gore-Tex lining. That boot is still in the line, still made on the same last, and still sent back to the factory to be recrafted.

The range runs from wildland firefighting boots to a suede hiker that reads as a city shoe. What holds it together is the construction: a welt you can replace, a sole you can swap, leather that gets better with a season on it.

Ninety years in, the promise has not moved. Build it once, build it properly, and keep fixing it.
